Doing Water Bodies Wrong in Lagos. contents Surface Water bodies in Lagos What these Pollutants are made of Bodies Concerned with Water Pollution in Lagos Why it is NOT NICE to do water bodies wrong Issues (probably) Surrounding water resources Management Probable SOLUTIONS Final note Water is life, such that there is still the need to drink it (even) almost immediately after drinking other forms of drinks; that satisfaction one gets after taking water, even in this age, can't be bought. That feeling hits differently! It flows through everything; both living and non-living. It is found in the air as tiny vapour or ice crystals, on land, underground (as groundwater and soil moisture), in plants and animals including ...

Temperature

Temperature contents what is temperature the temperature of the earth how is earth's temperature measured how temperature affects life around us WHAT IS TEMPERATURE ? Temperature is the degree of hotness or coldness of a body or object. Temperature values are within a range depicting various levels of hot and cold. These range varies depending on the scale. There are three common scales for temperature measurement; Celsius (0 to 100), Fahrenheit (32 to 212) and Kelvin (273.15 to 373) . Temperature is measured with the use of thermometers...

Little On Why We Need To Appreciate Mountains

Image
contents mountain characteristics some usefulness we have adapted to mountains mountain prsent trends The theme of the year 2022 International Mountain Day is "Women Move Mountains". This is an appreciation of the roles women play in mountains’ economic, social, and environmental development. "To highlight opportunities for improved mountain development and to build alliances to implement positive changes to both mountain people and environments around the world" according to the UN. Their feminity has seen them remain in rural mountainous regions, (rather than move away to the urban areas like the men) and care for them; with the care growing from just farming and animal husbandry to the use of cameras and other equipments for becoming mountain experts in a number of ways. Some mountain care and ...

Dust! Yes, those unnecessary evil

Image
What exactly dust is ? Let's start thus; over time, dust accumulates even in an empty room. But if one cleans out the dust, you are expected to find that the dust is only made of tiny fine particles of sand. Then you may find that as you fill the room with stuff over time, the dust start to contain tiny fibres of clothing and little particles of virtually everything in that room. Therefore, dust just is combination of a lot of different tiny particles (varying in size) unconsolidated from the "parent object" . They are obviously so light they can reach funny heights and find their way into any place, even through the tiniest opening. As a matter of fact, dust occur under water. They are just not be blown about like on land. This is possible because apart from the dust on land which find their...

Abolish Money Now!

The pursuit of what we can never have enough of, and that is of man made origin, that has just spelt confusion, slow motion of growth and development and general societal stress. It is unlike knowledge . Although, it may seem like we can never have enough of knowledge, but then, we are pursing after something far greater than us. Plus it is fun and makes life worth living. Knowledge, unlike money is something that if left unacquired or unknown, has no real impact on us, and if discovered makes life more interesting as it opens up the door to newer questions and other innovations. (In the end we might discover that life is meaningless, but it was fun while the knowledge-search lasted. We could have just died in all that time). Money on the other hand, feels like this embargo that has been put on all things. It may seem like a way that keeps us responsible such that we have to do an "equal" value or measure of work for an equal value of profit. Now although this looks like a hi...

Environmental Economics: Call out for a price review of commodities

INTRODUCTION We all know that economic growth and the environment, in this time and height of awareness are like two parallel lines, two sides of one coin. Involvement in one, more often than not, puts the other at one disadvantage or two. And this disadvantage that the environment is put in does not result only from economic activities. All forms of human settlement directly and indirectly cause some form of disfigure or imbalance to the environment; even agriculture and recreation. Now, the first thing that comes to the mind of many diplomats, politicians and business-minded people when they see a new product or resource is how much they can make out of it. And most if the time, the financial gain is the goal. The next plan of action is procuring the human and technological resources to harness that new product or resource. And if at all, they take very little into consideration, regarding the environmental side effects of their endeavour. And that seems very rational to some extent....

APPRECIATING THE "SIMPLE" NATURALS THAT MAKE THE WORLD POSSIBLE

Natural resources. These things do not seem spectacular. Firstly because they are too common (except in places where they are not and / or where they are too expensive). And secondly because we understand quite a lot about them. Now, these natural resources are not "simple", considering the level of knowledge researchers have garnered about them over time. But if we look at them with the layman's eyes; the understanding with which the early men saw them, which is their basic needs; needs such as cooking, bathing, washing, breathing, cracking, building and so on, and depending on the type of person you are...then you may find us quite lucky. You know...we are born with the table already set for us. A lot is known about a lot of natural resources. And that's not bad. No qualms with that. (Why would there be?). But that just pronounces how heavily dependent we are on these lifeless things and lower animals. And more shamelessly, the management of these natural resources ...

TERRALLY POOR

Being terrally poor, to me basically means not living as comfortable as possible relative to the blessings of nature. All other living organisms have the natural instinct of balance; i.e, living within the scope of their needs and actively or passively taking part in continuation of species and sustainability. (except when external forces- asteroids, comets and the likes, come into play). And even then, with time, things balance out. This was so for the primitive man until he evolved. (Nature's probably most costly mistake). Man was ok, like All other organisms until their eyes opened. They became wiser and crowned themselves controllers rather than guardians (which was probably nature's idea for protection against these external forces) of the world. They did and undid, and now are shadows of the world. Plants and animals have no worries and they adapt well to negative phenomena- floods, droughts, earthquakes, competition, volcanic eruptions and so on - thanks to the ...
